How to Convert Banana Plugs to 3.5mm

Updated February 21, 2017

Stereo speakers connect to audio receivers, amps and televisions via a wire connection. The down side to this connection is that only speakers use it. This wire connection is known as a banana plug. If you want to hook up a stereo to any other device that takes another connection option, you need to convert the wires to a cable format, such as 3.5mm -- the same size used by your headphone connection jack.

Plug the banana end of the adaptor into the wire connection ports on your stereo speaker.

Insert one end of the 3.5mm cable into the 3.5mm connection side of the adaptor.

Connect the opposite end of the 3.5mm cable into the input connection port you want to connect your stereo speakers to.

Things You'll Need

  • Banana plug to 3.5mm adaptor
