    Mounting the Tablet

  1. 1

Look at your car's dashboard to see whether you have a single DIN or double DIN capable console slot. A single slot would be for just a car radio, while a double slot has a radio unit and a CD player. Most newer cars have double slots.

  2. 2

Purchase a monitor kit to help put the tablet into your dash using the space provided. Purchase the specific tablet you want to fit the kit. These can be purchased from places such as Best Buy or any other electronics stores that deal with car audio and video installations.

  3. 3

Unlatch the bonnet of your car and take off the battery cables from the car battery. Using the wrench, loosen the cable clamps and pull the cable upward from the batter post. Make sure the negative cable is disconnected before you remove the positive cable.

  4. 4

Take out the original stereo unit from your car. Use the car's instruction manual for how to do this properly, since different cars have different methods of removal.

Most cars will require you to take out the mounting screws holding the unit in place, and then slide it out. Remember to also take the wires from the back of the stereo and disconnect them from the car.

  5. 5

Put the tablet PC you've bought into the housing using the installation kit, following the instruction manual. Make sure every screw is secured, as well as the wires are reconnected.

  6. 6

Connect the tablet to the wiring harness, and then run the wire from the wiring harness to the tablet. Connect the tablet to the VGA output in the back of it. Make sure to reconnect the cables from the electrical system. You can do this by using the wires removed from the old unit. Make sure the tablet is screwed securely in place, and then adjust it to your liking.

  7. 7

Reconnect the car battery, and mount the cables back onto the battery post. This time, the positive cable gets connected before the negative. Turn on the tablet.
