How to Stop a Fridgidaire Refrigerator From Beeping

Updated February 21, 2017

When your frigidaire refrigerator is running in your home, you may hear many different types of sounds, such as the sound of the motor running, the sound of ice dropping into the ice bin, the sound of running water and the sound of the water valve opening and closing. Those sounds are all normal for the refrigerator, but other sounds can mean there is a malfunction in the electric control. For example, a constant beeping or clicking sound could indicate a problem with the ice maker or something wrong with the electronic control unit.

Open your freezer and inspect your ice maker. If the ice maker is in the process of making ice, wait for it to stop to see if the beeping noise stops as well.

Move the "On/Off" switch on the top of the ice maker to the "Off" position if the sound continues.

Turn the "On/Off" switch back to the "On" position and see if the sound continues. Press the "On/Off" button on the left side of your refrigerator's temperature control panel if the sound continues.

Unplug the refrigerator power cable from the wall outlet, then wait at least 30 seconds.

Plug the power back in, then press the "On/Off" button to turn the refrigerator back on. If a beeping sound continues you should contact frigidaire customer service or a repair specialist.
