How to Change the Belt on an Aquarius Hotpoint Tumble Dryer TDC32

The Hotpoint TDC32 is a front-loading residential dryer that is part of Hotpoint's Aquarius brand line of appliances. The TDC32 contains a motor and pulley system that is used to rotate, or tumble, the internal drum. A belt connects to the pulleys powered by the motor as part of this system. If the belt becomes damaged, it must be replaced to keep the dryer working properly.

Unplug the power cord to prevent injury from electric shock.

Open the TDC32 dryer door. Remove the screws located along the underside of the top panel.

Lift up the top panel. Pivot the panel backward to rest the panel on the wall behind the dryer.

Lift the front panel away from the Hotpoint Aquarius dryer.

Pull the idler pulley toward the front of the TDC32 cabinet to relieve tension in the belt.

Pull the idler pulley toward the front of the TDC32 cabinet to relieve tension in the belt.

Slide the belt off of the drum and pulleys. Position the new belt around the drum and along the pulleys.

Push the idler pulley toward the back of the dryer to restore tension in the belt.

Replace the front panel. Connect the electrical plug into the door switch. Replace the screws on the top of the front panel.

Lower the top panel back into place. Replace the screws on the underside of the top panel.
