An infrared (IR) blaster is a device used to extend the range of remote controls with common household electronics, such as digital video recorders. The IR blaster plugs into the device and increases the reception range of the remote control associated with the device. IR blasters are often used by people who want their electronics behind closed cabinet doors but still wish to use their remotes to control them. You can purchase an IR blaster at most home electronics stores.
