How to Install a Jeep Unlimited Hardtop

The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is the first four-door Jeep Wrangler in existence. The extra two doors allow the Wrangler to act more like a family SUV instead of a strict off-road truck. Like two door Wranglers, the four door Wrangler Unlimited can have a hardtop installed onto it to further protect passengers from the elements and lessen driving noise. Lifting the heavy hardtop takes two people to lift, but once it's on it is very easy to maneuver.

Instructions

Things you need

  • Jeep Wrangler Unlimited hardtop
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Flat-head screwdriver
  1. 1

Turn the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited's engine off and open its hood. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  2. 2

Lift the rear section of the Jeep Wrangler Unlimted hardtop onto the rear part of the vehicle. Insert the six bolts into their washers and into the bolt holes on the inside of the hardtop.

  3. 3

Place the Nylock nuts onto the other end of the bolts that come through the hardtop and Wrangler side rails. Tighten the six bolts with the Phillips screwdriver.

  4. 4

Use the flat-head screwdriver to tighten the four threaded studs in the cockpit cover of the hardtop and place it onto the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited's cockpit. Place the threaded studs into the holes of the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited's roll-bar. Tighten the four turn knobs on the ends of the threaded studs.

  5. 5

Press the weather strip onto the edge of the tailgate. Reconnect the negative battery cable and close the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited's hood and tailgate.
