Wire hair combs are often used to arrange hair for a special event or occasion, such as a wedding or formal dance. While you can find handcrafted varieties in jewellery stores or speciality shops, they can be costly. One solution is to make your own wire hair comb using basic materials. Once finished, your comb will be both functional and elegant.

Instructions

  1. 1

Cut the wire to measure 6 inches.

  2. 2

Use pliers to curl the ends of the wire into small circles, concealing the rough tips.

  3. 3

Fold the wire in half so it is 3 inches long. This will be the base of the hair comb.

  4. 4

Cut another piece of wire to measure 24 inches.

  5. 5

Wrap the tip of the 24-inch piece of wire tightly around the folded base wire. Slide the wire toward one side of the base piece.

  6. 6

Fold the wire to create a section that is 3 inches long, twisting the wire as you fold.

  7. 7

Wrap the wire once around the top of the base.

  8. 8

Fold the wire to create a second section that is 3 inches long, twisting the same 24-inch wire as you fold.

  9. 9

Wrap the wire once around the top of the base. Continue adding folded, twisted sections until you reach the other end of the base piece. There should be 8 comb sections.

  10. 10

Curl the end of the wire into a circle to complete the wire hair comb.
