How to Clean Instructions for the Bissell Proheat 12 Amp Carpet Cleaner

Updated February 21, 2017

The 12-series Proheat 2X Bissell carpet shampooer is designed to deep clean carpeting without the use of excess moisture that could otherwise lead to mildew growth when the carpet becomes over-saturated by hand cleaning. The unit combines cleaning fluid, steaming action and a powerful vacuum cleaning to lift and remove set-in dirt build-up from your carpeting. When you first purchase the unit, some basic instructions are helpful in learning about how your unit works.

Open the water compartment of the cleaner, located near the base of the machine. Press the release clamp to detach the unit, fill with tap water, and snap it back into place.

Twist off the lid of the cleaning fluid compartment. Pour carpet shampoo or washing powder into the cleaning fluid compartment until you reach the fill line. Twist the lid back on.

Plug in your Bissell carpet shampooer and press the power switch at the top of the unit to turn it on.

Push the Bissell unit across your carpeting, pushing the steam trigger near the top of the handle every 10 seconds as you clean. Move slowly while pushing the unit for a thorough cleaning and let the carpet air dry.
