Attach picture wire mounting hardware to your frame approximately 1/3 of the way down on the frame. Some frames come with kits for this task while others may require you to purchase the hardware. Screw eye hooks into place on a wooden frame with a screwdriver. Mark the installation points and place a level on the marks to check that they are parallel to one another. Slide the grooves into place on the back of a metal frame.
Run the picture wire from one eye hook or groove to the other. Loop each side of the wire through one side of the mounting hardware. Twist the extra wire around itself to secure into place.
Install the hooks into the door at the spot where you want the picture to hang. Most types of door hooks screw directly into the door. Follow the specific installation instructions for your hook type.
Place the frame over the hooks to mount the picture from the door.
Hooks in the Door
Place the picture frame facedown. Wood picture frames are easiest to use with over-the-door hooks.
Line the over-the-door hooks up with one on either side of the frame so they are even.
Screw the over-the-door hooks into place on either side of the frame. This attaches the hooks, allowing you to hang it from the door.
Place the hooks that hold the picture over the top of the door.
