How to remove the glove box in a jetta

The Volkswagen Jetta is a small and affordable German sedan that is produced with a removable glove box. The glove box on the Volkswagen Jetta is on the passenger's side of the dashboard, and you will need to remove it to replace it if it gets broken. The Jetta's glove box tends to break if it is treated roughly and it is used repetitively. Removing the Jetta's glove box is a simple, straightforward task.

  1. 1

    Detach all of the screws securing the Jetta's glove box by turning them counterclockwise with a Torx T20 screwdriver.

    Clasp the Jetta's glove box and push it slightly to its left to reveal an additional screw on the right side of the glove box. Detach the screw by turning it counterclockwise with the Torx screwdriver.

    Clasp and wiggle both plastic pistons with your fingers. Detach both screws from either side of the Jetta's glove box door by turning them counterclockwise with the Torx screwdriver.

    Clasp and lift the plastic shock mount with your fingers. Press on the plastic pistons to detach both of the Jetta's glove box shocks.

    Clasp and detach both pins from either side of the glove box with a screwdriver.

  6. 6

    Push on both hooks on the edge of the glove box door and slide away the Jetta's glove box.
