Wire harness terminal plugs and pins can become deformed or bent from accidents or improper installation. Removal of these plugs is fortunately very simple, using the right tool for the job. Pin extraction tools are designed for one purpose, which is to allow a fast removal and replacement of a damaged wire harness plug or wire.

  • Pin extraction tool

    Identify the damaged pin or plug. Slide the open end of the pin extraction tool over the pin.

    Press down on the plunger end of the pin extraction tool. Continue to press down on it until the retaining barbs on the plug are depressed fully against the body of the plug.

  3. 3

    Pull the wire and attached plug out of the back of the harness shell, keeping the tool's plunger depressed.
