How to Make Children's Silhouette Pictures

Silhouette pictures make great gifts, especially for family members that do not live close by. There is something that just seems so innocent about a silhouette of a child. Silhouette pictures are easy to make with things that you already have around your home.

Things you need

  • Digital camera
  • White and black paper
  • Mounting board
  • Picture frame

    Use a digital camera to take a side view photo of your child's head. Make sure the picture is fairly close up.

    Load the pictures onto your computer. Re-size the picture to fit on an 8 by 10-inch piece of paper. Print out a copy of the picture.

    Cut around the head of your child. Make sure to not cut out stray hairs or any other part of the picture that gives the silhouette character.

    Trace the silhouette onto a heavy piece of black paper. Cut out the silhouette.

  5. 5

    Mount the silhouette onto a white piece of mounting board or cardboard. Put the silhouette into a picture frame for gift-giving or hanging.
