You can download GPS applications, or apps, for your iPhone so you can navigate and find your way to wherever you need to go. You can also add Point of Interest, or POI, files to your iPhone's GPS app in order to input new places. You can download POIs on your computer and connect your iPhone via the USB port to add the new POI files.

Download the POI files you want to add to your iPhone; you can go to the GPX Exchange's website or Pocket GPS World to get POI files.
Open your iTunes application on your computer, navigate to the "Applications" menu and locate your GPS application. Open the "Map Folder Director" in the menu.
Open your "Computer" menu and open the directory you have saved the POI files in; drag the POI files into the "Map Folder Director."
Connect your iPhone to the computer via the USB cable that came with the device. Go to your "Applications" menu and select your GPS application; the iPhone will automatically sync the application and add the new POI files.
