Historically, gameports on a computer have been much larger serial ports that often require you to screw the connection port in. This is a bit of a hassle, but some game controllers come with a USB connection that allows you to use the serial game port through a USB interface. If yours did not come with one, you can easily build one yourself.

- Serial to USB adaptor
- USB cable
Turn off your computer and insert the USB cable into one of your computer's open USB interface ports.
Insert the other end of the USB cable into the USB side of the serial to USB adaptor.
Connect your game controller's serial gameport to the serial to USB adaptor's serial port.
Turn your computer back on. The computer will recognise the new hardware and install it. Click the "Start" button on your computer and click the "Control Panel" link. Click "Windows Update" for your computer to search for the most up-to-date drivers for the game controller and click "Install Now" to install them.
