Kicking the habit of smoking can be a life-saving action. The American Heart Association says: "Cigarette smoking is the most important preventable cause of premature death in the United States." By creating a poster about stopping smoking, you can possibly motivate others to take a step toward reducing their chances of developing serious health conditions, such as cancer, heart disease and lung problems.

Place an image in the centre of the poster that will catch people's attention. This could be a simple pack of cigarettes inside a circle with a line crossing the circle diagonally. Another idea is to use a picture of a man or woman who is smoking. This central image should be the largest picture on the poster so that it will be the focal point.
Place a title on the poster that relates to stopping smoking. Use an interesting phrase such as, "What would happen if you kicked the habit?"
Use ribbons, pipe cleaners or other similar objects to connect the central image to supporting facts. Glue these connecting items onto the poster to create a three-dimensional effect.
Draw "bubbles" in which you place supporting facts and pictures. These facts and images should explain the effects of quitting smoking. Include information about money saved, as well as health benefits for the heart, lungs and circulatory system.
Include at least one informational "bubble" that contains advice on how to stop smoking. Add information about items such as nicotine patches, injections and counselling. Post resources, such as online sites.
