How to Get Wood R4 to Work on an R4 Clone

The Wood R4 is a software download Nintendo DualScreen (DS) users can get from the Internet. It updates the user's R4 DS chip to use with the latest releases in DS and DS Lite games. Clone versions of the wood software offer other upgrades and features to DS games. To use Wood R4 with a DS clone, you need to download software that is compatible with the clone and put it onto your DS.

    Plug the R4's memory card into its USB stick. Plug the USB stick into your computer's USB port. Open its folder by clicking "Open folder to view files" if you are using a Windows operating system, or open its folder by double-clicking its icon on the desktop if you are using a Macintosh operating system.

    Double-click the R4 clone's main folder, such as "R4I-DSN." Leave this folder open.

    Open the Web browser. Find a WAIO download at MediaFire, FileTrip, or HotFileSearch. Download its folder to your computer's desktop. Double-click the folder to display all of its files. Double-click the "build" folder to display its "_rpg" folder.

    Highlight the "_rpg" folder with your mouse. Drag it inside the R4 clone's folder and drop it inside by releasing your mouse button. This Wood R4 WAIO folder's files allow you to play games with the DS clone. Close the R4 clone folder and unplug the R4 USB stick from your computer.

    Unplug the R4 memory card from its USB stick. Plug the card into the R4 cartridge. Plug the cartridge into the DS and turn it on.

    Select the "R4" folder on the DS touch screen with the DS pointer. Select the "R4I-DSN" clone folder with the pointer. Open one of its ."NDS" files to use WAIO with it.

Tips and warnings

  • You will need to have .NDS files inside your clone's folder to use the Wood R4 WAIO's files with them.
