JCE is a third-party editor for the popular Joomla content management system. JCE is not included in the initial Joomla package but you can download and install it for free. The only way to create columns of text in JCE is to add a table to your page and either copy and paste or write directly in the table cells.

Go to "Global Configuration" and set the "Default WYSIWYG Editor" to "Editor - JCE". This option will only show if the editor is already installed.
Open the article that you are working on. Click the "Inserts a new table" icon. If you have trouble finding the right icon, click help (the question mark icon) then click "Buttons Overview".
Enter the number of columns and rows in the pop-up window. You will probably just use one row.
Enter a number for "Cellpadding". This value will be in pixels. You can also enter a pixel value for "Cellspacing", but this is often unnecessary.
Set the alignment for the placement of the table on the page. Enter "100%" for "Width". Enter a smaller percentage if you do not want the table to span the whole article block. Leave the "Height" field blank. Click the "Insert" button.
Click the "Table cell properties" icon. Set "Vertical alignment" to "Top". Enter "50%" for "Width" if there are two columns. Enter "33%" if there are three columns, and "25%" if there are four columns. Click "Update"
Type in the first column, or paste some text. Move your cursor to the next column and continue to write or paste. Click "Save" when you finish, and view the results.
