How to run the cables for a York 2001 multi gym

Updated April 17, 2017

The York 2001 gym machine includes an apparatus for nearly every exercise required to stay in top shape while working out safely using guided weights rather than free weights. Over time and through use, the cables that guide the weight can become worn and fail to move properly through the pulleys, requiring replacement. Purchase and install replacement York 2001 gym cables to ensure safety while exercising.

Insert one end of the 335 cm (134 inch) cable into the gap between the bracket and the pulley that is located behind the weight stack and closest to where the weight-bearing arm attaches at the top of the gym. Pull the cable through the gap and then insert the end of the cable into the gap between the bracket and pulley located at the end of the weight-bearing arm at the top of the gym. Pull the cable toward the floor and insert the cable end into the gap between the bracket and pulley located near the floor and directly behind the weight stack. Then pull the cable through the gap and set it down at the front of the gym floor plate.

Insert one end of the 105 cm (42 inch) cable into the gap between the bracket and pulley located at the end of the gym bench near the floor. Pull the cable toward the weight stack and rest the end of the cable on the gym floor plate. Place one end of an "S" hook through the end of the 335 cm (134 inch) cable that is resting on the gym floor plate. Place the other end of the "S" hook through the end of the 105 cm (42 inch) cable that is also resting on the gym floor plate.

Insert one end of the 138 cm (55 1/4 inch) cable into the gap between the bracket and the pulley located at the front of the weight-bearing arm at the top of the gym. Pull the cable through the gap and insert the end of the cable into the gap between the bracket and second pulley immediately behind the first pulley on the weight-bearing arm. Pull the cable through the gap and then down to the weight stack.

Place one end of an "S" hook through the loop at the end of the 138 cm (55 1/4 inch) cable that is nearest the weight stack. Place the other end of the "S" hook onto the large hook at the top of the weight stack. Place one end of an "S" hook through the loop at the end of the 335 cm (134 inch) cable that is nearest the weight stack. Place the other end of the "S" hook onto the large hook at the top of the weight stack.

Place one end of an "S" hook through the open loop on the 105 cm (42 inch) cable and place the other end of the "S" hook through the loop located at the bottom of the leg curl bracket.
