Cut a piece of masking tape the same length as the decal. Stick half of it to the decal's top half, leaving the other half of the tape off of the decal's edge.
Place the decal onto the mug, pressing down on the masking tape to secure it. Move it around until you are sure that it is properly aligned.
Lift up the bottom of the decal and remove the paper backing.
Carefully press the decal onto the mug.
Remove the masking tape.
Flatten out any bubbles or wrinkles that the decal may have using the back of a butter knife. Move it back and forth across the decal until it is smooth and secure.
