Counter Strike 1.6, or CS 1.6, is a popular online multiplayer computer game where players may choose to play on either counter-terrorist or terrorist teams. Players choose one of eight unique character models to play and two weapons to aid them against the opposing team. CS 1.6 skins refer to the physical appearance of your character and weapon models. Changing these skins allows you to change the appearance of characters and weapons, adjusting only the visual graphics and not game play. New skins can be downloaded from third-party websites and will replace existing or original Counter Strike skins.

Instructions

    Downloading CS 1.6 Skins

  1. 1

Find CS 1.6 skins online to download. Skins can be downloaded from the Counter Strike website, as well as FPSBanana and CStrike-Planet (see Resources).

  2. 2

Choose either the character model or weapon model category to view the available downloads on the website you selected. Pictures of each new character and weapon skin are available to view. Choose from over 100 different character and weapon skins.

  3. 3

Download the new CS 1.6 skins you want to your computer hard drive. Pay attention to the file folder on your computer where these files will be saved.

    Applying CS 1.6 Skins

  1. 1

Locate the skins you previously downloaded to your hard drive by using your computer's search or file finder. CS 1.6 skin files are labelled as .mdl files. Right click the .mdl file you downloaded and click the "cut" option from the menu.

  2. 2

Locate your Counter Strike 1.6 file folder on your computer hard drive. The typical location for the folder is C:\Program Files\Counter Strike.

  3. 3

Double-click the file folder labelled Counter Strike. Within that file folder, locate the folder labelled "Models."

  4. 4

Right-click the folder labelled "Models." From the menu, click "Paste." You will be prompted with the option to replace the existing .mdl skin file with the new file, or to keep both the existing and new .mdl skin files. Click the option to replace the .mdl file with the new file. This replaces the old skin model with the newly downloaded skin model.

  5. 5

Repeat steps one through four for additional .mdl skin files you have downloaded.

Tips and warnings
