How to Tie Small Hay Bales

Whether you have a half-used bale of hay or some remnants in the field that weren't picked up, tying them into a small bale is easy. All you need is a few strands of twine and a knife to tie them securely for stacking. That technique will also work if you need to take just a few pieces of hay with you to a show or a trail ride for evening feed.

    Gather the pieces of hay into a tight pile.

    Wrap two pieces of twine around the bale lengthwise.

    Pull the twine tight and tie a double knot. Cut the excess twine off.
