WinUAE is an Amiga emulator for the PC. Amiga was a family of home computers popularised in the 1980s for its graphics, built-in speech capabilities, stereo sound and multitasking abilities. An emulator is computer software that emulates video games from other systems, consoles, or arcades. You have to load a ROM into the emulator in order to play a game. Many PC joysticks are compatible with emulators and the emulator has a menu where you can configure your PC joystick. You can use a PC joystick on WinUAE by accessing the properties menu.

    Launch the WinUAE emulator. A "WinUAE Properties" screen will load once you launch the emulator.

    Click the "Game and I/O Ports" tab.

    Click "PC Joystick 1" in the "Amiga Mouse Port 0" section.

    Click the "Input" tab. Select your PC joystick from the drop-down menu.

    Configure your PC joystick. Under "Input Source" is a list of commands for your joystick, such as "A Button." Configure it to fit your needs.

    Start a game on the emulator to use your PC joystick on WinUAE.
