You can estimate the weight of a package by comparing it to other items. You can compare smaller items to a cell phone, or larger packages to items such as bags of sugar. Estimating the weight of a package at home can help you determine the cost of the postage needed to mail the package. This can help you avoid going to the post office without enough money to mail your package.

Compare the weight of your small package to a cell phone, which weighs 227gr. Use multiple items that weigh approximately 227gr to estimate the weight of your package.

Compare the weight of your larger package to a bag of sugar, which weighs 2.27kg. Use multiple items that weigh approximately 2.27kg. to estimate the weight of larger packages.

Estimate the dimensions of a package to a shoebox or magazine to determine its general size. The dimensions of a shoebox are 10 inches by 6 inches by 6 inches and a magazine is 11 inches by 9 inches.
