Latin's first inscribed words date back to 6 B.C. It stopped being a universal language in the 15th century. While now considered a dead language, it still is studied in school and spoken by clergy members. Latin is a language that invokes great study and appreciation. Many modern languages derive from Latin words and phrases--including English. If you ever feel the need to convert English phrases into Latin, you will find with the popularity of this ancient language, converting and translation resources are just a few keystrokes away.

    Go to the website Latin Phrase Translation. On the right side of the screen, be sure that the Latin Translator is set to "English to Latin." Type your phrase in the text box and click "Go." When the page is finished loading, you will see your English text. Move your mouse cursor over each word to see the Latin word and definition.

    Visit the Translation-Guide website. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see the translation options. To convert English text to Latin, select the "Text" option and type in your phrase. Be sure that the language is set for English to Latin. Press"Translate" to get the converted text.

    You also can select to convert an entire webpage to Latin by pasting the website's address into the "URL" field.

    Browse Latin phrases. Many English phrases come from Latin. The Yuni website has a long list of Latin phrases, with the English translations next to them. For an example, the English phrase "Love is blind" is listed on the Yuni website with the translated original Latin phrase "Amor caecus est." Yuni's website has a large library of Latin quotes and phrases alphabetically categorised. You can easily discover many common English quotes and phrases in their original Latin form.
