A squeaky wooden bed creaks and sighs when you get into it or out of it, and when you move in your sleep. A severely squeaky wooden bed can prevent you from getting a good night's sleep and if it is loud enough, it can even disturb the people who are sleeping nearby. Because a squeaking bed won't get better on its own, take the time to fix it as soon as you hear a slight squeak, rather than waiting for the noise to become loud and irritating.

Instructions

  1. 1

Pull the bed away from the wall so that you can see it clearly.

  2. 2

Remove the mattress from the bed and prop it against a nearby wall, giving you good access to the entire wooden frame.

  3. 3

Tighten all the screws on the wood frame.

  4. 4

Unscrew any nuts and bolts and set a washer between them, which will give them a tighter fit.

  5. 5

Replace any nuts and bolts that you removed, with the washer between the nut and the surface of the wood bed.

  6. 6

Dust the joints of the wooden bed lightly with talcum powder, which lubricates the joints and prevents them from rubbing against one another.

  7. 7

Replace the mattress and test it for squeaking.

  8. 8

Take the bed frame apart completely and then put it back together again if the squeaking persists.
