Insignia Bluetooth headphones can be set up to work with a computer or mobile phone. When installed, you can listen to your device from several feet away. The Insignia headphones must be configured with a device that also has Bluetooth capabilities. If your computer doesn't have Bluetooth, you can install Bluetooth software. Both the software and a special USB Bluetooth adaptor come with the Insignia headphones. If you no longer have the adaptor and installation disc, you will need to call Insignia for replacements.
- Skill level:
Insert the AC power adaptor into the Insignia headphone Charger Connector located on the bottom of the right earphone. Insert the other end of the AC power adaptor into the power outlet and allow the headphone battery to charge. Initial charge time is around 3.5 hours.
Connect the Insignia "USB Bluetooth Adapter" into the computer's USB port.
Insert the provided installation disc into the computer's optical drive. The disc will begin automatically, the "Welcome Screen" will open and the necessary Bluetooth software will install on your computer. If it doesn't start, click on the "Computer/My Computer" folder located in the desktop Start menu. Click on the installation disc's drive folder and double-click on the "Setup.exe" file inside.
Close the software wizard and disconnect the USB adaptor from the computer once the Bluetooth software has installed.
Configure the Bluetooth software. Launch "My Bluetooth Places" from the desktop, or click the Bluetooth icon in your desktop system tray. Enter a name for your computer in the "Computer name" field and select the type of computer (e.g., laptop or desktop). Click "Next." Select the services that you want to allow the computer to share with your headphones (e.g., File Transfer or Network Access) from the list. Click "Next." Then click "Finish." Close the Bluetooth configuration screen.
Press and hold the "Multifunction" button for three seconds to turn on the Insignia headset.
Pair the Insignia headphones with the computer. Click on the "Bluetooth" icon in the system tray. Click "Add a Bluetooth Device." Press and hold the "Multifunction" button for more than seven seconds until you hear a short, low tone in the earphones and the blue and red LED flashes. The headphones are now discoverable and can be seen by the computer. The Insignia headphones will list under the "Select a Device" as "NS-BTHDP or NS-BTHDS" on your computer screen. Select it and select "Next."
Enter the passkey "0000" into the Bluetooth Security Code field on your computer. Click "Pair Now."
Check both the "Hands-Free Unit" and "Stereo Audio" when prompted and click "Next." The Insignia headphones are now ready to use. Play a video or music file on your computer and listen to it with your headphones.
