Labelled an electronic notebook by Microsoft, the OneNote utility seeks to provide users with an all-in-one note-taking solution. OneNote is less rigid, in terms of formatting, than standard word processing software--users can insert graphics, images and text into OneNote documents in any way they please. Although OneNote sets out to differentiate itself from standard word processors, the program does feature common text formatting tools. So, if you're looking to align your text, OneNote's alignment features work the same way as any other Microsoft productivity tool.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Open your OneNote document. Highlight the text you'd like to align. To select everything, click on the "Edit" heading. Navigate down to the "Select" heading in the "Edit" menu and then choose the "Select All" option from the "Select" sub-menu.

  2. 2

Click on the arrow at the end of the "Formatting" toolbar, which contains options such as the font, bold and italics.

  3. 3

Click on the "Align Text Left," "Center" or "Align Text Right" option in the extended "Formatting" toolbar to align the selected text.
