Build a wooden bicycle stand to better organise your space and prevent damage to your bike. Unorganised bicycles can also pose hazards if left unattended and just lying around. If your driveway is scattered with bicycles or if you are simply tired of leaning your bike on the wall, it may be time for a do-it-yourself bike stand project. With just a few lumber studs, tools and materials, you can construct a simple bike stand that can hold multiple bikes.

Things you need
- Tape measure
- 2 lumber studs as stringers, 2-by 4-inch, 48 inches long
- 6 lumber studs as upright wheel holders, 2-by 6-inch, 24 inches long
- Router with a 1/2-inch round over bit
- 4 wheel holders
- Wood screws
Take the 2-by-6 stud and cut six wood pieces to make upright wheel holders. Use a tape measure and pencil to mark the length; this depends on the size of your bicycle tires, which typically range from 26 to 29 inches.
Cut the stud with the handsaw following the marks you have made. Angle the top corners of all six upright wheel holders and use the router to ease all the edges.
Take the 2-by-4 studs and fasten a wheel holder at each end, leave the bottom at 3/4 inches off the ground to minimise contact with the ground. Both studs or stringers will support the bike stand as its outside frame.
Start building the stands for your bikes using the six upright wheel holders. Two upright holders will hold one front wheel, making three spaces for three bikes. Measure the space by placing your front bike wheel snugly against each pair of uprights. Make sure the tire is fully inflated so the wheel slot will fit correctly.
Make marks for the screws to connect the upright holders adjacent to the 2 by 4 stringer while maintaining the space based on your wheel measurements.
Screw all the ends of all three pairs of the upright wheel holders to the two 2-by-4 stringers. Leave 14 to 18 inches of handlebar space between each set.
