Mortimer Beckett and the Time Paradox is a downloadable "hidden object" game with many levels. The story takes the player through eras of time in a bid to solve puzzles and mini tests to gain access to each new level. The key is to find all the hidden objects in each section of each era. Within those sections some objects will only be accessible by finding other objects from other sections.

Enter the Viking Age and locate all the hidden objects. The Viking Age has five sections: the Ship, the Tavern, the Frost Giant, the Frost Cave and the Temple. Find the pieces of each object in each scene. Some objects will need to be placed as a group in their designated areas to complete some puzzles. After you have solved all the puzzles in the Viking Age your work is completed within the temple and the paradox appears for you to step through into the next era.
Enter the paradox machine and find yourself in the French Revolution. The four parts are the Bastille, the Chateau, the Shop and the Bastille Gate. Within the Chateau is a secret chamber that is located behind the chest of drawers on the far wall. You must solve the puzzle and put the pieces in the correct order to access the key hole. Your key will be in your inventory at the bottom of the page. Enter the secret chamber and place the pieces in their correct place. Find the hidden objects to complete your list.
Speak to the shop keeper and find out what item he needs from you. This item is a piece of the king's jewels and you will have gained that item in the secret chamber. Hand it to him and receive the last piece of the mask, which you then take to the king as a disguise. He will reward you with the gold coin, but you must locate the pieces of the other coins yourself. They are in the same room.
Enter the paradox machine again and you end up in the Wild West. Enter Westville and locate the objects needed for your inventory. Some objects will be located in other areas of the Wild West era. Some scenes have "mini" scenes: the coach, for example. You can enter the coach and gain items and information. The general Store also has other information and mini tests to help you complete your inventory.
Enter the Plains area and solve the puzzles, find the objects and locate the dam. Work out the smoke signal messages and complete the level. Enter the forest and find the missing pieces. Place other objects from other scenes into the places they belong to clear your list.
Go through the paradox machine again and find yourself in the Caribbean Pirate Era. Give the bugle to the bugler, which will allow you to enter the General's office. Complete the tasks within and talk to the General. You will have to obtain an object to complete the scene.
Go aboard the Pirate Ship and complete those tasks too. Enter the cabin, collect the pieces and solve the puzzles. Enter the Port and locate the hidden pieces of the objects in the scene to complete the inventory list. Place all objects where indicated to finish the scene. Some pieces will be located in other areas. You will enter the under water area, the island area and the shark cabin before entering through the paradox machine again.
Enter the Age of Robots era. Again you will be expected to locate pieces of puzzles and objects to complete your inventory. Place completed objects into their rightful places and empty your inventory before you enter into the shuttle.
Find yourself in the Ancient Egypt era. In Luxor you will need to locate pieces and place them in the right sections. Again, some pieces will not be on the scene you are working on but in other locations. Complete your inventory, solve the puzzles and finish the final scene for the paradox machine to appear.
Enter the Dark Ages era and find yourself in Camelot to solve new puzzles and mysteries. Locate pieces of the hidden objects to complete them.
Enter the Age of the Gods for the final chapter in this game. At the end of this section there is a final puzzle to complete for you to return in the Paradox machine and go back to your own era.
