Some people prefer to print reports or pictures using glossy paper. Glossy paper reflects light so that it seems to shine. Though you can buy glossy paper from office supply stores, you can make your own glossy paper. Homemade glossy paper still works with a photo printer but it is more fitting for homemade objects such as cards and collages. Making your own glossy paper may not be cost effective if you need a large amount of paper.

  1. 1

Attach a string to a hook, lamp or chair. Attach the other side of the string to a hook or piece of furniture. The string should be level, much like the string you would use to hang clothes to dry.

  2. 2

Attach clothes pegs to the string so that each peg is about eight inches apart.

  3. 3

Open the clothing peg and attach it to a piece of paper. Attach one corner of the paper to the hook, so that the hook carries as little of the paper as possible. Attach the other corner of the paper to another hook. Move the hook away from the paper slightly if necessary, so it covers as little of the paper as possible. Repeat this process for any remaining pieces of paper.

  4. 4

Tape newspaper to the wall behind the string. This will protect the wall from the spray.

  5. 5

Hold the can of gloss primer four to six inches away from the paper. Pull the nozzle and spray the primer over the surface of the paper. Allow the primer to dry for about 30 minutes. Repeat this process for any remaining pieces of paper.

  6. 6

Turn the paper over and spray gloss over the other side.
