How to Convert a Microsoft USB SideWinder PC Wheel to an Xbox 360

If you are a fan of Xbox 360 racing games, you know that the quality of the steering controller makes all the difference in how realistic and enjoyable your driving experience is. Microsoft's Sidewinder series of PC steering wheels consistently receives high star ratings from professional reviewers and users alike. One down side to Sidewinder steering controllers, however, is that Microsoft designed them for use with a PC and not the Xbox 360. Nevertheless, if you want to use a USB Sidewinder steering controller when playing your Xbox 360 driving games, a special adaptor makes it possible.

    Turn off the power to the Xbox 360 gaming console, then unplug the game controller.

    Plug the USB cable from the controller adaptor into a USB port on the Xbox 360. Connect the Xbox 360 game controller to the corresponding port on the controller adaptor.

    Power on the Xbox 360. Insert a car racing or driving game into the DVD drive. Wait for the machine to boot and detect the Xbox 360 game controller that you connected to the controller adaptor.

    Plug the Sidewinder PC wheel USB cable into the USB port on the controller adaptor. Wait for a few seconds for the console to initialise the new steering wheel, then press the "X" button on the Xbox 360 controller to start the driving or racing game. Use the Sidewinder steering wheel as you would any other controller designed for the Xbox 360.
