Released by Ubisoft Montreal, "Assassin's Creed" is a video game that features a storyline set in both the present and the past. Desmond Miles, the protagonist of the game, will have to relive the memories of an assassin ancestor using an advanced device known as the "Animus." The game requires Desmond to carry out a series of high-profile assassinations in locations such as Damascus and Acre.

    Insert the "Assassin's Creed" installation DVD into a DVD-ROM or DVD writer. Your PC will immediately open an "AutoPlay" box. Select "Run autorun.exe" to launch the "Assassin's Creed" autorun menu.

    Click the "Install/Uninstall" option on the "Assassin's Creed" autorun menu to open the "Assassin's Creed" InstallShield Wizard. Depending on the security settings on your PC, Windows Vista or Windows 7 might ask you to verify whether you want to allow the "Assassin's Creed" InstallShield Wizard to open. If this is the case, click "Yes" on the "User Account Control" box.

    Select the language you want for the "Assassin's Creed" installation. For example, if you want the "Assassin's Creed" installation in English, click "English" and click "Next." The "Assassin's Creed" InstallShield Wizard will take you to a "Welcome" screen, where you will have to click "Next" again to proceed.

    Read the "Assassin's Creed" license agreement. Click "I accept the terms" and click "Next" to proceed.

    Select a destination folder for the "Assassin's Creed" installation. By default, "Assassin's Creed" will install to the "Program Files" folder on the "C" drive of the hard disk. If you want to change the destination folder, click "Change," click "Browse," specify a new destination and click "OK" twice.

    Click "Install." The "Assassin's Creed" InstallShield Wizard will start to copy the files required to run "Assassin's Creed" on your PC. This process will take around five to 10 minutes depending on the speed of your PC. After copying the required files, the "Assassin's Creed" InstallShield Wizard will run a hardware detection program to verify whether your PC is capable of running "Assassin's Creed." If your PC doesn't meet the minimum system requirements to run "Assassin's Creed," the detection program will notify you of which hardware components you must upgrade to run "Assassin's Creed" successfully.

    Click "OK" to close the hardware detection program. Click "Finish" to close the "Assassin's Creed" InstallShield Wizard.

Tips and warnings

  • Ubisoft released two sequels named "Assassin's Creed 2" and "Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood," which are both available for PC.
