GE QuietPower 2 built-in dishwashers insulate operating sounds, keeping them within the appliance, while providing good cleaning performance. Troubleshooting your QuietPower 2 dishwasher helps resolve some of the most common problems that stop the appliance starting or functioning correctly. Users can often fix minor problems identified through troubleshooting at home without calling a technician. You might save money if your home insurance policy or warranty agreement does not cover your dishwasher.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Hold "Heated Dry" for three seconds if a lock symbol appears next to the button; the child lock could be stopping your dishwasher controls from taking instructions. The child lock turns off after three seconds on the "Heated Dry" pad; switch it back on by holding the button down for a further three seconds.

  2. 2

Give the dishwasher door a firm push, making sure the latch has engaged. QuietPower 2 dishwashers detect when the door is left open, pausing the cleaning cycle and beeping every 30 seconds until the door is completely closed. Ensure nothing in the dishwasher is blocking the door from closing.

  3. 3

Open the dishwasher door and press the "Start/Reset" button; this cancels all instructions for the current cycle. Re-enter your cleaning instructions, selecting a cycle and choosing any necessary options. Do not press the "Delay" button unless you intend to start the cycle later. Make sure you close the door before you hit "Start/Reset" to restart the dishwasher.

  4. 4

Unpack and reload the dishwasher, making sure nothing touches or blocks the direction of the spray arms. Long cutlery, cooking utensils, pot and pan handles and other irregularly shaped objects sometimes fall out of place and keep the spray arms from rotating. If this happens, the quality of the wash is greatly reduced.

  5. 5

Make sure the dishwasher is receiving power; ensure the power cord is connected to an outlet and that the outlet is supplying electricity. A blown fuse or tripped breaker could be stopping the QuietSeries 2 functioning. Do not use an extension cord or multi-plug adaptor to power the QuietSeries 2.

  6. 6

Unplug the dishwasher and wait 30 seconds. Reconnect the power and try re-entering your cleaning instructions. Temporarily removing the power supply forced the QuietSeries 2 internal computer to reset itself, clearing any temporary software problems.

  7. 7

Check the hot, cold and drain pipes at the back of the dishwasher are kink-free and not trapped under the appliance. A restriction in water flow could prevent the QuietSeries 2 filling and draining correctly. Clean any food debris out of the filter in the bottom of the dishwasher, below the lower cleaning rack.
