You have captured a great smile, the first step of a child, and the great family vacation in photos. Now give those pictures a place in the spotlight with homemade photo clip holders that match your decor. Increase their impact by clustering your pictures together in a display. With a small block of wood and some fun embellishments, your pictures will be in the spotlight where they belong, in a photo clip holder worth praise on its own.

Instructions

  1. 1

Paint your block of wood a colour that matches the decor in the room where your photos will be displayed, and let dry.

  2. 2

Mark a dot every 2 inches, centred, across the length of the wood block. There should be five dots with 2 inches at the beginning, in between each dot, and again at the end.

Drill five holes in the block on the dots. Each hole should be approximately 1 inch deep.

  4. 4

Cut five pieces of wire in different lengths ranging from 10 inches to 3 inches.

  5. 5

Attach an alligator clip to the top 1/2 inch of each wire using hot glue. The clip should be pointing straight off of the end of the wire, parallel to it, not perpendicular to it.

Alligator clips can be recycled from the ends of old wires or bought in a package at the hardware store. (alligator clip. image by Bruce MacQueen from Fotolia.com)
  6. 6

Dip the end of each piece of wire into school glue, and then stick each piece of wire into one of the five holes.

  7. 7

Glue embellishments to the block of wood and to the alligator clips. Use embellishments that match the theme of the photos that will be displayed or that match the room that the photos will be in. Use sea shells for a summer theme, small sticks of wood and acorns for a cabin theme, or buttons and bows for a baby theme.

  8. 8

Pinch the edges of your photos in the alligator clips to display them in an upright display.

Tips and warnings
