Add a touch of nature to the interior of your home with a rock-filled glass lamp. This type of lamp is ideal for use as an accessory in a beach-themed or rustic-inspired room. Purchase a lamp with a glass base or use one you already own, and gather a collection of rocks to make this simple project on your own. Use rocks you've collected from a trip or from your favourite beach and the lamp will also serve as a memento.

Purchase a glass based lamp or use an existing lamp. Some retailers sell lamps that are made specifically for filling with objects, though you can use any glass-based lamp. Clear glass is ideal, as it will allow you to see the rocks more clearly; however, a solid-coloured glass base will also work, as long as it is light enough to see through.
Gather a collection of rocks. Collect them from your favourite beach, lake or river. If you use rocks you've collected on your travels, you'll be reminded of your trip each time you look at the lamp. Rinse the rocks before placing them in the lamp. If you can't locate a collection of rocks you find attractive, purchase some from your local craft store, where you will likely be able to find rocks in a variety of colours, textures and sizes.
Remove the lighting elements from the lamp. Remove the lampshade and unscrew the light bulb. Unscrew the hardware located near the opening of the lamp. You may not be able to pull out the wiring, in which case you'll have to place the rocks around it.
Begin gently filling the lamp base. If you're using large rocks, gently place them in the lamp one by one. If you're using smaller rocks, place them in the base one small handful at a time. Create a pattern or haphazardly place them in the base.
Replace the lighting elements and hardware. Pull the wire up from the bottom of the lamp to place it back inside the base. Replace the bulb and the lampshade.
