Rather than buy rocks for kids to play with, create your own. The kids can also help make the rocks, in addition to playing with the finished product. Sand not only adds texture to the rock, but also gives it colour. Salt also adds texture. Because the rocks contain sand, make sure the children do not eat or lick them. Paint or colour the rocks to decorate them. Use them to decorate a classroom, or for science play.

Place the baking tray into the oven. Bake the rocks for 10 to 20 minutes, or once the rocks are hard. Place the rocks somewhere to cool.

  5. 5
