How to Make an Easy Paper Bird

Updated November 21, 2016

Making an easy paper bird requires a few simple supplies and some creativity on your part. Simple birds are made with construction paper and other basic materials rather than clay or other more complex crafting tools. Add embellishments to enhance the features on your bird. Look at a photo of a real bird to get ideas and inspiration for your craft. Looking at pictures can give you ideas about the type of bird that you want to create.

Paint a paper plate blue, red, yellow or purple, depending on what you want your bird to look like. Allow the paint to dry.

Fold the painted plate in half and make a crease. Glue a feather in between the crease on the underside of the plate. The feather should stick out from the back of the plate. This is the birds tail feathers. Glue other smaller feathers in random places on both sides of the birds body.

Draw feet and legs on yellow construction paper and cut these out. Glue the feet on the bottom portion of the birds body. The bottom portion of the bird is the rounded part of the folded paper plate.

Cut out a circular piece of red, blue or purple construction paper for the birds head and then cut out an orange triangle for the birds beak. Glue the triangle on the rounded bird head.

Use markers to draw eyes, a mouth and other features on the birds head. Glue the bird head at the top of the paper plate on the opposite side of where the feather is sticking out of the birds body.
