If you're changing your hose or water line, you might find a small, metal clamp in your way. Ear clamps, generally made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel, are small, versatile clamps that are generally used to tighten or clamp hoses. Ear clamps can be used with water or air lines, rubber hoses, plastic tubing and even electrical cables. This thin metal band is easy to install, and while it's on, a small wire spring provides constant tension to prevent the clamp from loosening.

- Pincer clamps
Turn off the water in your hose line and drain all water from the hose.
Put on gloves.
Open the pincer clamps and place the pincer jaws across the ear of the ear clamp. To avoid accidentally cutting the pipe, make sure the pincer jaws are not touching the hose.
Slowly tighten the pincer jaws to cut through the metal ear of the ear clamp.
Carefully open the cut clamp and remove it from the hose.
