Decorative boxes are a beautiful way to present small gifts such as earrings. A cost-effective method of presenting small gifts is to make these small boxes out of paper. An origami box is both aesthetically pleasing as well as relatively simple to make, and there are many online tutorials available to use as a guide. Patterned, colourful or shiny origami or square paper will enhance the look of your gift.

If your decorative paper is not already your desired size, measure and cut it. A 10 square inch piece of paper produces a box that is three and a half inches in width and two inches in height.
Fold the paper diagonally in half both ways. Make sure the creases in your paper are sharp.
Open the paper. The creases make a folded cross; fold each corner of the paper into the centre of the cross.
Keeping the four corners folded in, fold the top and bottom into the centre. Open out the top and bottom to create creases.
Fold the tip of each corner into the creases made in the previous step and unfold. These creases are the guidelines for the following steps.
Open out the triangular top and bottom flaps, and then fold the left and right sides into the centre. Ensure that these folds are well-creased.
Fold down the top left corner of the paper and open out again, to create a diagonal crease. Do the same to the top right corner to make another diagonal crease. Repeat this at the bottom.
Open out the top of the paper along the new diagonal creases so that it is raised vertically. Repeat this at the opposite end.
Fold the vertical flaps of paper at each end down into the model, forming the box.
Repeat steps one to nine with a piece of paper that is slightly bigger in size. A good general rule is a piece of paper that is one-and-a-half square cm bigger than the paper used for the box. This will become the cover of the gift box.
Add tissue paper into your decorative box and place the earrings on top. Put the cover on and your paper gift box is complete.
