There are two options for configuring the Maxtor DiamondMax 21 hard drive to run as a slave drive. The first option involves configuring the jumpers on the 8-pin dual header called the jumper block. The second involves enabling computers that use cable select to select or deselect pin 28 (CSEL) on the interface bus. In this configuration, the drive's physical position on the cable determines whether it is a master or slave drive. The slave drive is attached to the second connector from the end of the 40-pin 80 conductor drive interface cable. Refer to the user manual for your computer to determine if it supports this option.
