Fluorescent light fixtures must have bulbs replaced as they burn out to maintain the light quality of the room. Fluorescent fixtures comes in a wide variety of shapes and have different types of covers. Most ceiling mount light fluorescent fixtures with tubes have either screw on type covers or wrap around covers. Wrap around covers require no screws or clips and simply hang off the edge of the fixture. Removing the wrap around cover of a fluorescent light fixture requires some bending of the cover.

Place a step stool or small step ladder under the light fixture. This allow you to reach all sides of the fluorescent light cover without over stretching.

Grab the top of one side of the light cover with your fingers and place your thumbs under the light cover.

Press your thumbs toward the ceiling, bowing the light cover slightly. Pull up and out on the top side of the cover with your fingers.

Lower the side of the light cover, holding it with both hands. Push the light cover toward the opposite side to unhook it from the fixture. Place the cover in a safe place until you are ready to reinstall it on the fixture.

Watch for dead insects and dust when removing the light cover. Installation is the reverse of removal.
