In addition to its gaming capabilities, the PlayStation Portable (PSP) can also play AVI files. Because the PSP has very little internal storage, you will need to use a Memory Stick if you intend on adding any more than one or two videos to the PSP. Once you've added the AVI file to the PSP, you can play the AVI file directly from the XMB (PSP main menu).

  1. 1

Insert the Memory Stick (if applicable) into the "Memory" slot on the PSP. Connect the PSP to your computer using the USB cable.

  2. 2

Select the "Settings" section on the XMB. Enable "USB Connection." Your computer will detect the PSP and the autorun window will open. Click "Open folder to view files." All the files on the PSP and Memory Stick will be displayed.

  3. 3

Drag and drop the AVI files you want on the PSP into the "VIDEO" folder. Disable the USB connection and disconnect the PSP from your computer.

  4. 4

Select "Video" on the XMB. All videos on the PSP will be displayed as thumbnails. Highlight the AVI file you want to play and press the "X" button to begin playback.
