How to Mix Bissell Carpet Cleaner

Updated April 13, 2018

The primary products made by Bissell, a private corporation based in Walker, Michigan, are vacuums and carpet shampooers. Bissell also makes a concentrated cleaning formula for use in their machines. Most Bissell machines mix the concentrated cleaning formula with water after you have diluted it. You need to dilute the cleaning formula yourself, however, if you want to use it in older models or any type of rented carpet cleaner.

Shake the Bissell concentrated carpet cleaner in case any settling occurred while the product sat on a shelf.

Pour 1 cup of hot water in your Bissell machine's formula tank if it has the Smartmix feature. Add carpet cleaner until the water and cleaner meet the fill line.

Mix 73.9ml of the Bissell concentrated carpet cleaner for every gallon of hot water your rental machine holds. Pour into the machine's designated tank. This method also works for older Bissell models that do not have the Smartmix option.
