Orange, a mobile phone service provider in the United Kingdom, has operated the Equipment Identity Register (EIR) since 1994. The EIR system allows Orange to blacklist phones that have been reported as lost or stolen, thus prevent them from being used on any other provider in the U.K. Lost phones should be reported immediately to Orange. If the customer has Orange Care, the phone can be replaced quickly for a minimal fee.
