An Apple account consists of two key features, an Apple ID and a password. Users need an Apple ID and password to place orders with the online Apple Store, to purchase music and videos through the iTunes store, to use iTunes Genius and to make purchases from the App Store. While an Apple account created through the iTunes store requires that you enter a payment method such as a credit card, an Apple account created through the Apple website does not.

Go to the "Create Your Apple ID" page on the Apple website.
Enter a valid e-mail address in the text blank. This will be your Apple ID. Enter and confirm a password of at least six characters. Enter your first and last name as well as your phone number if desired.
Use the check box to indicate if you would like to receive e-mails from Apple. Click "Continue." In a few minutes, you will receive an e-mail from Apple confirming your new account.
