Apple's iPhone is a powerful device with a large amount of internal memory. This memory not only stores downloaded applications and songs, but also contains personal information about the phone's owner. Before you sell your iPhone, it is very important to remove all of this information from the iPhone and its installed SIM card.

Press the "Settings" icon on your iPhone's screen. This will bring up a listing of all the settings options of your iPhone.
Scroll to the bottom of the "General" options and select "Reset." You will be asked if you are sure you want to proceed with the reset process. When this is completed, the phone's memory is erased.
Using the end of a straightened paper clip, press into the small hole on the side of your iPhone. This causes the SIM card tray to pop out. Remove the SIM card, and push in the tray. The SIM card contains personal information that should not go with the iPhone.
