The Nokia 6301 is a versatile brick-style device that has a built-in MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity and a 2-megapixel camera with full screen viewfinder. If the 6301 is the phone of your choice, but you do not have T-mobile, you can unlock your phone and use your own network and SIM card. Follow a few steps to remove the network lock on your Nokia 6301.

  1. 1

Press *#06# and push the "Call" or "Send" button. A 15- to 17-digit number should appear in the message box. You must provide this number to obtain your unlock code. Each IMEI is unique to a cell phone, regardless of the service provider.

  2. 2

Obtain an unlock code by calling your cell phone service provider or purchasing one from a third-party source.

  3. 3

Take out your old SIM card and do the following:

    Press the # button.

    Press * three times.

    Press * four times.

    Press * twice.

  4. 4

Enter the 15-digit unlock code and complete the following:

    Press * two times.

    Press 1.

    Press #.

  5. 5

The message should show "SIM Restriction Off." Insert your new SIM card. If no messages appear and your phone is not bricked (see Tips), your device is now unlocked.

Tips and warnings

  • Entering an invalid unlock code too many times will result in your phone being "bricked." Once this happens, you can not unlock your phone anymore.
