How to Unlock My Sony Ericsson V630i for Vodafone

Updated February 21, 2017

Vodafone is a GSM (Global Systems for Mobile Communications) cellular service provider that operates in several countries around the world. The Sony Ericsson V630 is a quad-band GSM-based mobile phone that is fully compatible with Vodafone's cellular networks. The Sony Ericsson V630, however, is normally sold with a carrier lock that prevents using the phone with other cellular service provider's SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) cards. If you would like to use your Sony Ericsson V630 with a Vodafone SIM card, you will need to unlock your phone.

Remove the battery and back cover from your Sony Ericsson V630. Under the battery compartment, you will find your existing SIM card. Remove the SIM card and replace the battery and back cover.

Contact your current cellular-service provider and request the unlock code for your Sony Ericsson V630. If you have an active account that is in good standing, the provider will normally provide you the unlock code without a charge. You can also purchase the unlock code (see Resources) from companies that sell unlock codes.

Power on the Sony Ericsson V630.

Press the left arrow button.

Press the "*" button.

Press the "*" button a second time.

Press the left arrow button.

Enter the unlock code you wrote down in Step 2. Your Sony Ericsson V630i is now unlocked.

Remove the battery and back cover from your Sony Ericsson V630 and insert the Vodafone SIM card. Replace the battery and back cover and power on your phone. The phone is now ready to use on Vodafone's cellular network.
