VNC (Virtual Network Computing) allows full remote access of a computer, so that you can send information to the VNC server on your Android smart phone. The Android VNC Viewer, or android-vnc-viewer, works over 3G and Edge networks. When using the viewer, you will be able to see a smaller version of that computer's screen on the Android. Some screens are broken into smaller chunks for better viewing and memory purposes. Have your configuration information ready once you decide to connect to the VNC server.
- Skill level:
Open the "android-vnc-viewer" on your Android to the connection configuration page. Tap "New" to create a new configuration and "Connect" to start the VNC server.
Scroll down the page and type the VNC server nickname, password and IP address. Type the VNC server port number, choose the colour format and check the box next to "Local mouse pointer."
Tap "Connect" once you've chosen your settings and the Android VNC Viewer connects to the VNC server.
Change the scale of the Android display by tapping the "Scaling" button on the screen. You can zoom, see a 1:1 mode or fit the display to the screen.
Tap "Input Mode" to switch modes. "Touch Mouse Pan and Zoom" lets you use the mouse to pan and scan throughout the display. "Touchpad Mode" uses the mouse like a laptop touchpad and "No Pan; Trackball Mouse" is available if you have a trackball on your Android.
Press and hold the "Camera" button and click at the same time to simulate using the right mouse button.
Press the "Back" button on the Android in place of a computer Esc key.
Use the letter keys H, J, K, L for the corresponding arrow keys of left, down, up and right.
