How to build your own USB hub

With many different USB-powered devices being released for computers, people tend to run out of USB ports. A great way to increase the number of USB ports on your computer is to add a USB hub. USB hubs connect to the rear of the computer in one of the PCI card slots.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Make sure your computer is completely powered down. Remove the power cord from the computer tower.

  2. 2

    Use the screwdriver to remove all of the screws holding on the computer tower cover. Pull the computer tower cover off of the tower. You will see all of the inner workings of your computer.

    Use the screwdriver to remove one of the PCI slot covers on the bottom rear of the computer tower. Insert the PCI USB hub into one of the PCI slots.

  4. 4

    Place the tower cover onto the tower and tighten the screws to make sure its secure. Plug the computer back into the wall socket and power it up. Plug your USB devices into the USB hub and they will work as usual.
